East Hartford Health Department and First Choice Offer a Flu and COVID-19 Booster Clinic

booster clinic

East Hartford, CT – The East Hartford Health Department is teaming up with First Choice Health Centers to offer East Hartford residents a flu and COVID-19 booster dose clinic on Tuesday November 2nd, 2021. The Fluzone High-Dose flu vaccine will be available for persons 65 and older who have not yet been vaccinated. The Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent contains four times the antigen, the part of the vaccine that helps your body build up protection against flu viruses, than other standard-dose inactivated flu vaccines.

“It is critical for residents to get vaccinated against the flu and I encourage all eligible individuals to receive a COVID booster shot to protect themselves, their loved ones and the community,” said Mayor Marcia Leclerc.

The Pfizer, Moderna, and Janssen COVID-19 booster vaccines will also be available to all eligible recipients. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently expanded its recommendations for booster doses, and the East Hartford Health Department encourages residents to make a plan if you are eligible to receive your booster shot. Studies show that after getting vaccinated against COVID-19, protection against the virus may decrease over time and be less able to protect against the Delta variant. Based on the latest data and evidence, the Health Department stresses that these booster shots are safe and effective.
