East Hartford Fields Open for Limited Use

east hartford fields open for use

East Hartford, CT – The Town of East Hartford is opening town fields for limited, pre-approved, scheduled baseball and softball use.  Approved use will initially consist of youth sports practices, which will be allowed to resume on Town fields with established restrictions and protocols in place to protect coaches, players and all participants due to continued coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns. All approved organizations will follow guidelines for practices as well as game play. To resume play on town fields, league directors, coaches and/or governing boards are asked to submit a plan of action to the East Hartford Parks and Recreation Department, listing all rules and protocols they will have in place to practice safely for the foreseeable future. These rules and protocols include the following guidelines:

Each league must submit their social distancing protocols which meet the minimum requirements of the Sports and Fitness Center document for Reopen CT, pages 14 & 15.

  • All social distancing protocol documents will be reviewed by Parks and Recreation staff to ensure they meet the new State guidelines
  • All organizations and leagues will be asked to complete a facility request form, provided upon request
  • All schedules must be submitted to Parks and Recreation staff and receive approval prior to field usage
  • At this time, no new organizations or leagues will be approved for field use this season.
  • Baseball/Softball would be considered third party usage for the fields

East Hartford Parks and Recreation Staff Rangers will provide supervision and protocol enforcement in the parks.  Rangers will have approved field use schedules and copies of each of organization/league’s plans for social distancing on site, as well as face masks, gloves and cleaning products available for daily use.  Rangers will work with organizations to ensure that social distancing is maintained, and all other protocols appropriately enforced during each activity/field usage.  Additionally, rangers will monitor and clean restroom facilities regularly. Rangers will report any protocol infringements which may jeopardize the league/organization’s future field usage.
