East Hartford Apartment Inspection Program

East Hartford, CT – The Town of East Hartford advises individuals that Inspections and Permits Department is implementing an apartment inspection program. Effective immediately, upon vacancy of any dwelling units that are rented, the apartment complex owner shall request that the Code Official conduct an inspection of the dwelling performed and approved prior to the dwelling being reoccupied again. Any violations that are observed during the inspections must be corrected and approved by the Code Official before the dwelling may be reoccupied.

This program has been introduced in July of 2020, but has not been active due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program applies to any apartments located in East Hartford that are being rented to the public.

Before the apartment is reoccupied, it must undergo and pass a thorough inspection by the town at a cost of $25. This is to ensure our apartments are clean, safe, livable and are up to the building code.
