Starting on August 20th and through August 26th,Brewer Street will be under temporary construction for milling and paving operations from High Street to Mitchell Drive with the goal to improve the entire roadway.
This milling and paving project is a temporary solution for road surface issues as a large-scale reconstruction of Brewer Street is anticipated to start in the beginning of 2020. That project will address structural road issues, traffic signals, drainage, sidewalks and a new bridge at Pewterpot Brook.
The milling and resurfacing of Brewer Street being done starting on August 20th is a temporary repair as the road surface improvements can no longer be delayed while the preparation for the large-scale reconstruction is still in progress.
With that said, motorists should expect traffic delays and detours occurring during the week of construction. It should be noted that utility structures will be raised and elevated with extreme caution and low speeds are highly recommended during that time. Please, seek alternative routes, as at times, Brewer Street may be fully closed or restricted to one way.
The majority of work is anticipated to be completed by August 26th, provided the weather remains favorable.
Your cooperation during this time is highly appreciated. If you must traverse the area, please remain alert to traffic control and construction workers that may be in the roadway.
