Air Quality Alert

air quality alert

East Hartford, CT - The National Weather Service has issued a poor air quality alert for the entire State of Connecticut, effective through 11 PM on Tuesday, July 27. The Town of East Hartford is encouraging residents to limit strenuous activity outside due to the alert. Those who must be outside are advised to wear a filtered mask. Individuals with underlying heart or lung conditions should be careful when an air quality alert is issued, specifically persons with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and congestive heart failure. The East Hartford Health Department recommends at-risk groups to stay indoors, ideally in an air-conditioned environment, to reduce your risk of aggravating underlying health conditions.

Individuals with heart or lung conditions may experience coughing, tightness of the chest, irritation of the airways, and even chest pain.  Seek care from your doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen and are not controlled by your medicines.
