2022 Statewide Primary Election Information
East Hartford, CT— Please be advised the statewide primary will take place on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 6 AM to 8 PM at designated polling places. Voters will cast ballots for the following candidates:
- Democratic Primary: Secretary of the State and State Treasurer vacancies.
- Republican Primary: Secretary of the State and United States Senator vacancies.
Registered voters, affiliated with either the Democratic or the Republican parties are able to vote in a primary election.
Individuals who requested an absentee ballot will receive them after July 19, 2022. Please contact the Town Clerk's Office at 860-291-7230 or Registrars of Voters at 860-291-7280 with questions regarding absentee ballots.

In order to be able to vote in the Primary, citizens must be registered voters. Individuals who have registered in the past and have not changed their residential address since then, do not have to register again. However, those who have never registered or have registered, but changed their address since then, must register again with their new address. The quickest and easiest way to register is online here. Please register as soon as possible to ensure enough time to be processed.The deadline to register online or in person is August 4, 2022. The deadline to change a party affiliation has passed and cannot be done at this time.
The Registrars of Voters staff will be available for primary enrollment on Tuesday, July 26, from 11-3 PM and 5-7 PM.
