Join Governor Dannel P. Malloy, Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc, DOT Commissioner James Redeker, and the East Coast Greenway Alliance on Wednesday, September 6, at 6PM at Great River Park to formally recognize the Town’s work on expanding the East Coast Greenway network and walking and cycling trails in East Hartford. During the ceremony, the Great River Trail will be officially dedicated as a part of the East Coast Greenway. Additionally, they will welcome the East Coast River Relay to Connecticut.

After the ceremony, the Connecticut Committee of the ECGA will lead participants on a fun ride along the banks of the Connecticut River, showcasing the beautiful views of the river.

The Great River Park trail is part of the East Coast Greenway, which spans the length of the East Coast from Maine to Florida. Since February of 2016, the Town has been engaged in a major multi-use trail project connecting Great River Park and Main Street, and Silver Lane with existing ECG trails in Manchester. The project has created a ten foot wide paved trail surface suitable for use by cyclists, runners, hikers, and pedestrians

The East Coast River Relay is a 10 week relay sponsored by the East Coast Greenway Alliance, celebrating greenway trails up and down the ECG. It began in Maine in August and will end in Florida in October. For more information about the Relay and East Coast Greenway, visit: www.greenway.org
