FINAL FILM in the Fine Arts 2017 Film Series April 15

The East Hartford Fine Arts Commission finishes their Saturday Night Cinema series on April 15 in the auditorium of the East Hartford Community Cultural Center, 50 Chapman Place, at 7:00 in the evening.  This is the Commission’s 11th annual international film series.  The series includes 4 films, one each on the third Saturday of the month, from January through April.  All screenings are free.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016) from New Zealand will be the April film.  Directed by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows).  A rebellious teenage orphan and his reluctant caretaker survive in the New Zealand wilderness after the former attempts to run away from his foster home. Meanwhile, a nationwide manhunt is launched to find the two.  PG-13; 101 minutes; Swank Motion Pictures, Inc.

“Waititi’s film defies its convention through grounded characters, witty dialogue, compassionate filmmaking and inventive storytelling. “Hunt for the Wilderpeople” is consistently clever and even moving.” Brian Tallerico, rogerebert.com
