Flu Vaccination Information

Flu Season is Coming Up

East Hartford, CT - While seasonal influenza (flu) viruses are detected year-round in the United States, flu viruses are most common during the fall and winter, with flu activity increasing significantly in the month of October. The East Hartford Health Department would like to remind residents that the best way to protect against flu and its potentially serious complications is with a flu vaccine. Although everyone 6 months and older should get a seasonal flu vaccine by the end of October, it is not too late to benefit from a flu shot. Flu vaccination has been shown to reduce the risk of flu illness and more serious flu outcomes that can result in hospitalization or even death in older people or those with underlying health conditions.

The Town of East Hartford Health Department is taking flu vaccine appointments at the Health Department. Residents are encouraged to schedule an appointment by calling 860-291-7324. Everyone is eligible to receive the flu vaccine, no matter your immigration status. You are not required to show a form of ID to get vaccinated, however residents are encouraged to bring your ID and insurance cards if you have them. There is no cost to getting the flu vaccine.
