East Hartford 2022 Tax Help Resources

East Hartford, CT— There are a number of free tax preparation services available in Town for those looking for help.

The East Hartford Public Library has collaborated with United Way to offer free tax preparation services to families with household income of up to $60,000. The services are made available through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA volunteers will help you prepare and file your taxes, teach you new ways to save, and provide tips to help stretch your refund.

IRS-certified VITA volunteers from the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut will be at Raymond Library on Sundays from 1 pm to 4:30 pm, beginning February 5, 2023 through April 2, 2023. Registration is required. Dial 211 to set up an appointment. The checklist of required documents will be provided to taxpayers when they register to attend. The Raymond Library is located at 840 Main Street. Please note that no sessions will be offered on February 19th (Presidents Day) and April 9th (Easter Sunday).

Free Federal forms and tax information booklets are also available at the library.

Additionally, the East Hartford Senior Center is excited to announce that the AARP Tax Aide Program will be available to residents beginning on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 and through Friday, April 14, 2023. The AARP Foundation sponsors the program, assisting individuals with a free preparation of federal and state tax returns at the East Hartford Senior Center. Individual tax returns will be prepared on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting at 8:30 AM.

To have your tax return prepared, taxpayers MUST make an appointment. Appointments can be made beginning January 16, 2023 by calling the Senior Center between 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
