Attention, teens and tweens! The East Hartford Public Library is offering two in-person mini-camps in August.

Are you interested in math, medicine, technology, engineering, environmental science, or other scientific fields? Join us for three afternoons of STEM camp in August, free of charge. Diversity in STEM camp will be held at the library on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August 10, 11, & 13. Camp hours are 1:00 – 4:00 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday, and 1:00 – 5:00 PM on Thursday. Sign up for one, two, or all three days, and hear from a diverse group of STEM professionals, including representatives from the medical, engineering, and scientific fields. Learn about careers, conduct hands-on activities, and get excited about a future in STEM! Diversity in STEM camp is presented in partnership with the Ga-Adangbe Association of Connecticut and is best suited for entering 7 – 12th graders. All are welcome.

Are you creator, innovator, or change-maker? Want to be your own boss or build your own business? Join Urise Ventures for Summer Biz Camp, an exciting workshop series for young entrepreneurs and tech-preneurs, to be held at the library on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, August 17, 18, & 19 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM. Participants will be invited to attend a “Shark-Tank-style” pitch competitition to be held in Hartford in September with cash prizes. For ages 10 – 18.

Participants in both mini-camps will be required to wear masks and observe physical distancing (regardless of vaccination status).
