East Hartford CONNects

A Working Cities Challenge Initiative

Please click here for a message from East Hartford CONNects regarding assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“East Hartford CONNects” is the name of East Hartford’s initiative for the Working Cities Challenge, the result of a grant competition organized by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston to promote economic growth in low-income communities.  The Town of East Hartford is a partner in a team led by the East Hartford Public Schools.

The initiative's goals are to assist residents with career development and educational resources and to foster community engagement.  East Hartford's team was awarded $450,000 in early 2018 to implement these efforts over three years.

Neighborhood residents are strongly incorporated into the initiative’s leadership.  They have hosted and are planning more events to help other residents understand the employment, educational, and other resources that are available for them and to train residents in leadership and community engagement.

The initiative’s staff is currently seeking residents who are searching for a new job or need assistance navigating available resources in the community.  If you would like assistance, would like to become involved in our initiative, or have other questions, please contact Yadira Rivera, Career Navigator, at (860) 622-5507, or Amy Peltier, Initiative Director, at (860) 622-5508.

You can learn more about the initiative in this Summary Infographic.
