Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Snow Dash 5K Road Race to be Held January 8

Race Kicks Off at 1:30PM at Langford School

The 25th Annual Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Snow Dash 5K Road Race will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at 1:30 PM. Sponsored by the East Hartford Parks and Recreation Department and the East Hartford Police Department, the race will start and finish at Langford School at 61 Alps Drive. Approximately 250 runners are expected to participate in the race.

The race is run in memory of Police Officer Brian A. Aselton who gave his life in the line of duty protecting the citizens of East Hartford on January 23, 1999, stated Mayor Marcia Leclerc. The tragic loss of Officer Aselton devastated our community. Officer Aselton was only 26 years old when he was killed; yet his spirit lives on in those who remember him. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Officer Brian A. Aselton Memorial Scholarship Fund and East Hartford Police Child Safety and Crime Prevention Programs. In 2015, a total of $3,100.00 was raised with $1,550.00 going to each fund.

The race was developed in 1993 and renamed in 1999 for Officer Aselton. Since then proceeds have benefited the East Hartford Police Department’s Community Outreach Division, the Quality of Life Division, the Child Safety and Crime Prevention Programs.
