East Hartford Police Department to Hold Next COFFEE WITH A COP Event Nov 1

Location: Dunkin Donuts, 364 Silver Lane, East Hartford, CT

Earlier this month the East Hartford Police Department joined police departments nationwide with a simple plan to break through the barriers that have been built over the years–a cup of coffee. Thanks to the overwhelming positive feedback from that event, the East Hartford Police Department’s ‘Coffee with a Cop’ continues.

Community policing has long been considered a framework for establishing trust between the community and the police. However, over time the composition of our nation’s communities has changed due to shifting demographics, more commuters, and the introduction of different communication methods such as websites and social media.

‘Coffee with a Cop’ opens the door for interactions outside of the crisis situations that typically bring law enforcement officers and community members together. On Tuesday, November 1st, the East Hartford Police Department is hosting the second of what is now a monthly event held at locations throughout the Town of East Hartford.

“I encourage and welcome everyone to stop by,” said Police Chief Scott Sansom. “This is a casual occasion in a comfortable environment. It’s coffee and conversation, no agenda or speeches. Just a chance to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the officers in your neighborhood.” Sansom added.

The next East Hartford Police ‘Coffee with a Cop’ takes place from 7:30AM to 9:30AM on Tuesday, November 1st at Dunkin’ Donuts, 364 Silver Lane, East Hartford, Connecticut.
