Little League Opening Ceremony

Little League Opening Ceremony

It was my great pleasure to throw the first pitch at the East Hartford Little League Opening Ceremony Saturday at Gorman Park.  Each year I get to throw the pitch, kicking off what should be a great and eventful season. Over 20 little league teams with a combined total of approximately 400 kids attended the ceremony, and will play this spring in ten divisions. Kid Governor Elena Tipton threw out the league’s second pitch of the season. I want to thank the East Hartford Police Color Guard for being on hand for the playing of the National Anthem, and a delegation from the East Hartford Fire Department who also attended the ceremony.

Little League is a fantastic activity for young boys and girls, it teaches principles of sportsmanship and fair play that are invaluable to young people, as well as the great and historic game of baseball. I especially want to recognize and thank the parents and coaches who put in the effort supporting their children and the community.
