East Hartford is a Community of Respect and Tolerance

We are all immigrants. Our great Town was founded by settler colonists who came to Connecticut from England. As East Hartford grew and expanded from a small farming community into a manufacturing powerhouse it became the home to many first and second generation Irish, French Canadian, and Italian immigrants who moved here to work for Pratt & Whitney and the other factories and businesses in our Town. Today, we are a vibrant community, host to a wider variety of business and industry than ever before, and home to people of every nationality, race and religion.

We have a proud tradition as a revolutionary community, dating back to the War of Independence. We have stood up for freedom and democracy for the entire course of our history. Regardless of any national conversation on immigration or security, we are proud of our heritage and proud of our diversity.

As an organization, the Town of East Hartford believes in tolerance, respect, and creating an inclusive community for everyone. We offer the same services to everyone, regardless of race, creed, national origin, gender, or sexual orientation. We pledge to treat all residents and visitors to our town with respect and a high level of professional service. We reject calls to treat anyone who lives in our town differently.

As a municipality, we provide the most basic and essential services to all residents: Public Safety, Infrastructure, Recreation, Health, Social Services, etc. These services must continue regardless of national and international events, in good times and in bad.
As your Mayor I pledge to do my utmost to ensure that East Hartford remains a place of just, fair and equal governance, providing the maximum level of services to residents at the lowest possible cost. East Hartford is a community for all.
