Raymond Library Project Receives $100,000 Donation

(June 29, 2015) East Hartford, CT – Assembled before the nearly completed Raymond Library on June 25, Goodwin College President Mark Schienberg presented a donation of $100,000 on behalf of the college to Mayor Marcia A. Leclerc and the Town of East Hartford. The donation, which was comprised of a $90,000 cash donation and $10,000 of in-kind services, will go towards providing the library interior with the “finishing touches” before its anticipated opening date.

Standing proudly with members of the Goodwin College community, town council members and state representatives, Mayor Leclerc thanked President Scheinberg for the generosity the school has shown towards this project.

“The highlight of my administration has really been this library,” Mayor Leclerc said. “This donation and the other services Goodwin College have provided have made this dream closer to a reality for the residents of this town.”

Goodwin College’s donation was put towards the library’s “Everybody Loves Raymond!” fundraiser. Formed in the spring of 2014, the Everybody Loves Raymond! campaign has raised over $200,000, providing the “bells and whistles” for the inside of the library. The Goodwin College donation allowed the campaign to surpass its goal of $150,000.

President Scheinberg, as the leader of an institution of learning in East Hartford, was pleased to help out another institution that could be enjoyed by the community.
