Transfer Station and DPW Office Open Saturdays in May for Residents’ Spring Cleanup Needs

The East Hartford Transfer Station and Public Works office will be open every Saturday in May from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. to assist residents with their spring cleanup needs. The extra weekend hours are a good opportunity for residents wishing to clean up any remaining debris from this year’s winter storms or to just spend a little extra time sprucing up their properties.

A bulky waste permit is required to use the Transfer Station.  Permits are $35.00 and $15.00 for senior residents 65 years of age and older. Permits purchased in May are valid for the months of May and June. New permits must be purchased for new fiscal year starting July 1, 2017. The permit rules and regulations are available at 61 Ecology Drive or on the Public Works website. The transfer station and office will resume their normal schedule for Saturdays starting on June 3, 2017.

The normal transfer station schedule is as follows:  Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 7:15 a.m. to Noon and 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. (holidays excluded), and the first and third Saturdays of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. (holidays excluded).  The transfer station is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
