Mayor Leclerc Announces
a Railroad Stop Log Exercise in East Hartford

Operation of all businesses within the area will not be impacted

September 10, 2014, East Hartford CT- Mayor Marcia Leclerc announces an upcoming stop-log exercise for the levee gate located on the railroad tracks just off Cedar Street in East Hartford.

The scope of this exercise is to provide real life experience to personnel from several town agencies and Connecticut Southern Railroad in responding to a flood emergency in East Hartford. It will involve erecting the complete stop-log structure* across the railroad tracks behind the businesses on Cedar Street. This exercise will allow officials to test the updated Operations and Maintenance Manual for the Flood Protection System as well as the Weather Annex within the Town of East Hartford Emergency Operations Plan.

Mayor Leclerc stated, “The stop-log exercise will allow us to evaluate the operational readiness of multiple town agencies to respond to a flood emergency as well as allow those agencies to interact with railroad officials in a simulated real life scenario”.

The exercise is scheduled to take place beginning at 6:00 am on Saturday, September 27, 2014, and last approximately 8 hours. Cedar Street and other adjacent streets should not be affected. Operation of all businesses within the area will not be impacted.
