A division of the Health Department
The Division administers reporting, tracking and follow-up of infectious disease and conducts Tuberculosis testing and related contact investigations and containment measures. Nurses work with the Environmental Health Division to resolve food borne and communicable disease outbreaks through the conduct of interviews and the coordination of laboratory sample collections. They also assist the Sanitarians in lead abatement procedures, administer free annual senior influenza vaccination clinics and make vaccination referrals to East Hartford's First Choice Community Health Center. Nurses also perform education, health promotion and outreach activities.
