Q. What exactly does Youth Services do?
A. Youth Services is a Town agency which provides services for any child between the ages 1 to 19. We offer confidential counseling services for children and their families regarding: school issues, youth-at-risk, family counseling, child abuse or neglect... the list is endless.
Q. How much does it cost?
A. Youth Services is a free service offered to all residents of East Hartford.
Q. Do I need to have insurance?
A. No. Since there are no fees for our services, insurance is not necessary.
Q. Are there counselors available to families who speak Spanish?
A. Yes. Arrangements can be made upon request.
Q. What is the Juvenile Review Board?
A. The Juvenile Review Board’s purpose is to divert juveniles under the age of 18 who have had contact with the East Hartford Police and juvenile court when appropriate, as well as providing meaningful age appropriate non-judicial alternatives. The Juvenile Review Board enhances coordination of services to youth by directing them to local resources and service providers to address juvenile criminal or at risk behaviors. Supporting agencies who participate on the Board include Youth Services, the East Hartford Police Department, the Division of Children and Familes (DCF), the Office of Juvenile Probation and includes a representative of the local school.
