Join Santa as he takes a dip before his long night of delivering presents. Santa will be available for underwater photos and will listen to children make their Christmas requests. East Hartford Beautification Commission Holiday Fest Tree Lighting
Friday, Dec. 6th
6:30— 8:30 PM on the East Hartford Town Green
In conjunction with the East Hartford Parks & Recreation Department, this festive event features a holiday carol sing-along, a visit from Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and a special visit from Santa delivered directly from the North Pole on an East Hartford Fire truck! Candy canes and hot chocolate will be on hand to keep you warm and cozy. Free event and open to everyone!

Come visit Santa and his helpers! Activities include a petting zoo, holiday arts and crafts, wagon rides, refreshments, snowman building contest and drawing for a free Christmas tree. There will be a special children’s entertainment performance at 1:30 from T-Bone! This event is held in conjunction with the Beautification Commission’s Holiday Fest and is also co-sponsored by the Exchange Club and the East Hartford Teen Action Group. Free and open to everyone. Holiday House Lighting Contest
Thursday, Dec. 12th
Have a great time lighting up your home, decorating it in the holiday spirit. Judging will take place on Thursday, December 12th. We ask for lights to be left on from 5:00—9:00 PM. All entries must be received by 4:30 PM no later than Mon, December 9. Photos of the winning houses will be displayed at Parks & Recreation during the holiday season. Prizes will be awarded for...Best Overall, Most Spirited, Most Creative, Brightest and Most Patriotic. Meet the Cello
Meet the Cello is a FREE and unique hands-on opportunity for all ages to get to know this beautiful instrument that will be held on Saturday, January 11 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM in Room 104 at the East Hartford Community Cultural Center. Free mini starter cello lessons and performances will be offered. Cellos of all sizes will be available to play. Instructor: Jeffrey Krieger has been Principal Cellist of the Hartford Symphony and a private cello instructor in the Hartford area since 1972. He is a resident of the EHCCC. Advanced registrations are preferred by calling 860-291-9437, however, drop-ins are welcome.
Bunny Breakfast & Egg Hunt
Saturday, April 12th
Parks & Recreation and the EHHS Student Council present this wonderful event for children age 10 and younger. Tickets required and are available in main office of EHHS or at the Parks & Rec Office.
Breakfast with Peter Cottontail, 9:30 – 11:00 AM
East Hartford High School Café (enter through the Gym lobby). Tickets $5 for adults, $2 for children 10 & younger. Includes pancake breakfast, a drawing for a raffle prize, face painting, crafts, games and a special prize for each child! Photos with Peter Cottontail are $3 each.
Spring Egg Hunt, Beginning at 11:00 AM
Children should bring their own bags or baskets to collect goodies. Adults may accompany children onto the field for ages 3 and younger. Children will be brought outside in groups from the Gym according to age. The event will be held rain or shine.
20th Annual Skyhoundz Canine Disc Championships
Thursday, May 8th
Dogs will be taking to the skies…the premier athletic competition for dogs! The competition will attract the most entertaining four-legged athletes in the area. Families are invited to enjoy this unique event and applaud these talented canine athlete entertainers. For more information about entering the local competition, contact the Parks & Rec Dept.

Open to all veteran and novice dogs that can catch a flying disc. Registration is on site and it is not necessary to have competed previously. Free to everyone.
27th Annual Memorial Mile
Monday, May 26th
Parks & Rec and Board of Ed. Physical Education presents the 27th Memorial Mile preceding the Memorial Day parade. The 1 mile race starts on Scotland Road and finishes just west of Hillside St on Burnside Ave. Awards presented for men & women, 9 & under, 10-11, 12-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90 & up. T-shirts issued to all pre-registrants as of May 9 and on race day if available.
