19th Annual Skyhoundz Canine Disc Championships
Thursday, May 9th
Dogs will be taking to the skies…the premier athletic competition for dogs! The competition will attract the most entertaining four-legged athletes in the area. Families are invited to enjoy this unique event and applaud these talented canine athlete entertainers. For more information about entering the local competition, contact the Parks & Rec Dept.

Bike Safety Event
Held a Thursday evening in June at 6:00 PM.

Join us for a celebration of bikes, bike skills & bike safety. Presented by the East Hartford Police Department, topics include the importance of wearing a helmet, rules of the road, proper dress and riding safety. Children will get a hands on learning experience in some quick bike mechanical skills and quick check before you ride. Pre-registration required. Fill out registration form and hand in to your homeroom teacher. For questions, please call (860)291-7160.

26th Annual Memorial Mile
Monday, May 27th
Parks & Rec and Board of Ed. Physical Education presents the 26th Memorial Mile preceding the Memorial Day parade. The 1 mile race starts on Scotland Road and finishes just west of Hillside St on Burnside Ave. Awards presented for men & women, 9 & under, 10-11, 12-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90 & up. T-shirts issued to all pre-registrants as of May 10 and on race day if available.

National Trails Day
Clean-Up at Hockanum River Linear Park Trail
Saturday, June 1 from 9:00 AM—12:00 Noon
Donate some time to support local trails! Parks & Recreation will be working on some maintenance on a 2 mile stretch of trail in celebration of National Trails Day. Bring a rake and have some fun. Meets at the trail entrance at the Town Hall parking lot on Main Street. Held rain or shine.
