"Reporting a Street Light Outage"
In 2003 the Town of East Hartford purchased approximately 4,900 streetlights from Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P.) The Town is responsible for maintaining these lights including bulb replacement. The Town has contracted to perform this work and residents are encouraged to report any street light outages directly to the Town's contractor Sylvania Lighting Services at 1-800-323-0572. Please be prepared with the address, nearest cross street, and pole number when reporting outages. Pole numbers are the most critical piece of information necessary to ensure a timely response and they are typically located on the pole facing the street.
Under State law, CL&P retains responsibility for ensuring that power is provided to each streetlight. If the Town determines that the outage is due to a power supply problem, it will then be reported to CL&P for corrective work.
