The Town Clerk, appointed by the Mayor, has the responsibility to uphold a broad range of state and federal laws. The Town Clerk is responsible for recording, preserving and maintaining all land records and vital statistics for the Town. Other functions performed by the Town Clerk's office includes the issuance of various municipal licenses and permits, including dog and sporting licenses, trade names, maps, notary services and Justices of the Peace.The Town Clerk oversees the election, referendum and primary process. Create and review the ballots for the election machines
and wording of referendum. Files all the necessary paper work for elections with the Secretary of States office, processes the Moderators' Returns and certifies election results.
Other duties include recording Trade Names, Maps, Veteran Discharges, Notary Public service and Justices of the Peace. All minutes of and appointees to the Town's various Boards and Commissions are maintained in the Town Clerk’s office. The Town Clerk is also the official keeper of the Town Seal.
